With Labor Day weekend officially over, we’re heading into fall faster than you may be prepared for. And even though the summer of 2009 has proven to be the biggest ever at the box office, looking back shows a surprising lack of originality. Sequels and spin-offs were all over the place, leaving animated flicks “Up” and “G-Force” as standouts, along with sleeper hits “The Hangover” and “District 9.” But what was your favorite movie this summer?
If the top five films from summer ’09 aren’t doing much for you, check out honorable mentions six through 10:
“Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs” $194m
“X-Men Origins: Wolverine” $180m
“Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian” $177m
“The Proposal” $161m
“G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra” $141m
“Terminator Salvation,” “G-Force” and “District 9″ weren’t too far behind, either. Which of your favorites from this summer just didn’t bring in the cash?
