Just when you thought you needed a Netflix subscription and an interest in meteorology to really catch up on your favorite climate movies, the Weather Channel has gone ahead and taken out the middle man. Beginning on October 30, the network will be test driving a new idea: Weather movies on Friday nights.

They’re kicking it off with “The Perfect Storm,” the 2000 action/thriller starring George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg that left us all very afraid of fishing in Massachusetts. “March of the Penguins,” “Deep Blue Sea” and “Misery” (because of an opening sequence blizzard) will all follow.

So who needs date night on Friday anymore?
