Don’t have enough Facebook in your regular life– need it in the movie theater, too? Well then you’re in for a treat this weekend. “The Social Network,” David Fincher’s much-hyped tale of the early days of Facebook, hits theaters Friday, and Jesse Eisenberg and Justin Timberlake are sure to attract crowds. You don’t have to be a Facebook fanatic to “like” this, but if social media isn’t your thing, get your gore on in early anticipation of Halloween with another brand-spanking new weekend flick. Well, except for “Freakonomics.” Don’t expect that one to be too gory.

With Halloween behind us, the floodgates have officially opened for everything Christmas– including in the theaters. Jim Carrey stars as Ebenezer Scrooge, beginning this weekend, in Robert Zemeckis’s version of “A Christmas Carol.” But that’s not all. This weekend is offering up sci-fi flick “The Fourth Kind” and “The Men Who Stare at Goats” for all the G.C. lovers out there. Not sure what to see? Read up.

This week, The Take Three has been loving NPR’s movie reviews. Here’s what they had to say about kids-book-turned-happening-flick, “Where the Wild Things Are”:

Spike Jonze: Check. Dave Eggers: Check. Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Check. Where the Wild Things Are has all the ingredients to become the hipster equivalent of Star Wars.

The movie may be hipster, but the book is old school, and for old and new fans alike, be sure to check out TerribleYellowEyes.com– a site started about five months ago that features artwork inspired by the classic book.

This weekend in movies: Past meets future

Looking for something fun at the theater this weekend? First decide what decade you’re living in, and then take your pick between the Bruce Willis future flick “Surrogates” and the 80′s-remake “Fame.” This weekend’s got it all, so it’s your choice.

In “Surrogates,” people of the future are able to plug into robots to do their wild living for them, all without having to leave the comfort of their own homes. Surrogates are beautiful, crazy creatures, but even if they harm each other, their attached people stay in tact– until now. Willis plays a cop out to solve the mystery of surrogates gone astray, without alarming anyone in the process.

“Fame” on the other hand– now here’s a story you already know: Kids with talent go to a magical and musical high school. Hey wait– that makes us start to think “High School Musical” was a real rip-off, and now we feel very cheated. But back to the movie debut at hand; if you liked the first one, and if you like singing and dancing in movies in general, you know what to expect with “Fame.”

The choice is yours this weekend: Relive the past, or step into the future?
